B.1986 Quanzhou China, Angel Chen enrolled in HongKong Academy for Performing Arts,
where she obtaineda Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours. Angel hasparticipated in many stage productions, mural projects,windows display, installation art and Painting projectplanning, etc. and now she lives and creates in HongKong .

Having had many years cultivating her craft, Angel thus began to delve into her own mind – is the organic self in the process
of pure creation? The East Asian way of contemporary ink painting pursues a balanced artistic system. It integrates
techniques and meditations Angel has been exposed to during her formative years. Opening the series with “Black &
White”, the two most fundamental languages of color, Angel leverages the fluid language amongst different hues,
highlighting the structural detail richly in an unabridged manner.
Angel’s determined yet loving female gaze encourages the viewer to appreciate her natural style and emotion, creating a
sense of tenderness amidst the cacophony. The growth from using ink wash to utilising more colours is a great mouthpiece
of Angel’s inner world and dialogue – a sense of solitude which in actuality gives clarity to how the artist perceives different
souls and landscapes.
The emoting abundance of ink and color encourages the viewer to search deep within the self. The artist gradually maps
out a spiritual journey of her own with each brush stroke. Love is both pain and happiness. The dichotomy guides people
toward a broader spectrum of admiration, yearning and even excruciation. Life is captured and recorded with all intentions
through Angel’s every dip of the paintbrush.
